Young Racing Driver
My name is Mats van Rooijen and I am a 15-year-old racing driver competing in the Mazda MX-5 Cup. Motorsport has always been more than just racing for me. It is also about discipline, focus and improving every single day. Every race weekend gives me the opportunity to learn new things and gain valuable experience on track.
My Background in Motorsport
Before moving into car racing, I spent several years competing in karting. During that time, I raced at both national and international level. As a result, I achieved multiple strong results in different championships. One of my highlights was winning a European race event and competing against talented drivers from across Europe.
Karting taught me many important lessons. For example, I learned how important preparation, consistency and mental strength are in motorsport. In addition, it helped me develop the racing skills that I now use in the Mazda MX-5 Cup.
Racing in the Mazda MX-5 Cup
Recently, I made the step from karting to car racing. I currently compete in the Mazda MX-5 Cup, which is known for close and competitive racing. Although I am one of the youngest drivers in the field, I continue to develop every race weekend.
The Mazda MX-5 Cup is a great environment to improve myself because the competition level is high. Furthermore, the championship gives me the opportunity to gain experience on famous circuits and work towards my long-term goals in motorsport.
Building My Future
Besides racing, I am also focused on building my future outside the car. Motorsport is not only about performance on track, but also about creating a professional image and building strong relationships. Therefore, I actively work on my social media presence and online visibility.
Through this website, I want to share my journey, ambitions and progress with fans, partners and people who support my career. In the future, my goal is to continue growing as a driver and take the next steps towards higher racing categories.
